Dear Friends,
In 2010, the Special Olympics Brookings’ Coaches participated in the Super Plunge and raised over $6,000.
In 2011, the Special Olympics Brookings’ Coaches participated in the Super Plunge and exceeded our goal with over $11,400 raised.
In 2012, the coaching team will once again be participating in the Super Plunge. All 4 coaches will participate in the event. At least 2 will be actively participating in the hourly jumps, and the others will be providing support to the event by announcing, drying towels (a warm, dry towel is VERY important), and other important tasks! We coach as a team and we participate in the Super Plunge as a team!
Over the years we have learned the following:
-the water is FREEZING! No matter how many jumps you take, it does not get any warmer! Even when you jump 45 times in 24 hours;
-the hour in-between jumps, seems like forever! There is nothing like trying to warm up, knowing in less than 60 minutes you will be freezing all over again;
-a support crew is critical! Without an around the clock team of people providing support to the Super Plungers the event would not be possible; and
-the community is incredibly generous!
Once again, we are not asking you to take the plunge with us; however we are asking you to support us. Would you consider donating to our efforts? Any amount helps. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
The event starts at 2pm on Friday, March 30th in downtown Brookings. We hope to see you there as we are FREEZIN FOR A REASON!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Sincerely,
Special Olympics Brookings' Coaches
Suzy Gehring, Bo Ivers, Jessie Kuechenmeister, and Brett Spencer
