On Sunday, October 4th, The Jimmy Express team will walk in the “Heel to Heal” Walk/Cycle event to raise funds for the Embrace Kids Foundation (formerly The Institute for Children with Cancer and Blood Disorders).
The “Heel to Heal” Walk/Cycle event will be held in Johnson Park on River Road in Piscataway, N.J. at 9 a.m.
The team is named for our son, Jimmy, who is a HUGE fan of Thomas the Tank Engine and Spongebob. He also has Sickle Cell Anemia, a hereditary blood disorder that causes red blood cells to form into a curved, sickle shape. These sickle-shaped cells can clog blood vessels and deprive the body's tissues and organs of oxygen. There is no cure for sickle cell anemia, but doctors can provide treatments that help prevent complications from the disease.
