I am Sophie Legros and I will be working with Coaches across Continents on an exceptional program in Pader District Uganda between May and July 2010. I am excited to share my passion for soccer with impressive players and coaches.

Friends of Orphans, Pader District

FRO is an amazing program founded by Ricky Richard, a former child soldier, designed to help children affected by war. The FRO organization targets young men and women in the war zone of Northern Uganda, many of which have been abducted - sometimes as young as eight years old - and forced into child soldiering, have been orphaned because of war and disease, or have been used as sex slaves. An entire generation has been traumatized by torture, maiming, kidnapping, and violence, and FRO aims at rehabilitating these girls, boys, men and women through sports and activities.Coaches across Continents will join FRO in their efforts for Sport for Social Development beginning June 2010 by working with the coaches and teachers of FRO as well as by reaching out to the local community.

It will support local coaches and teachers who learn to use soccer for Female Empowerment, for Conflict Resolution, for Health and Wellness and HIV awareness and for fun.

As a recognition to your contribution, I will write about my volunteer experience this summer and keep you up to date with the work I will be doing with Coaches across Continents and Friends of Orphans.
