Hi! My name is Brian Stauffer. I am raising money to go to the Special Olympics World Games. I was chosen from athletes in Kansas to represent the United States of America in the World Special Olympics swimming events. The games are being held in Athens, Greece. In March I will go to San Diego to join the rest of the national team for a week of training camp. Then on June 20th I will leave for Athens, Greece. I will return on July 5th.
I have now started training for the games. I swim laps at Hesston Wellness Center and McPherson YMCA. My coaches for this training are Karla Stauffer and Andrew Stauffer. I am going to start to add lifting weights. I have competed in the freestyle and butterfly events.
My Mom and Dad are Jeff and Karla Stauffer. I have two brothers, Andrew and Michael. I am 23 years old. I am a twin. Andrew is my twin brother. I work at NT and H Enterprises in Halstead, Kansas. I go to church at Salem United Methodist Church. I have been competing in Special Olympics for 12 years. I compete in lots of different sports. I have competed in basketball, bowling, golf, soccer, volleyball, track, softball, and swimming. The best thing about Special Olympics is when I compete I just like to have fun.
