On Wednesday May 25th, 2011 our lives were changed forever.  Our beautiful daughter Emma Grace Nichols was born sleeping at 37 weeks.  She was perfect at 5 lbs 10 oz and 19 inches. On June 3 she was laid to rest with her paternal great-grandparents, in a beautiful graveside service.  Anthony and I were overwhelmed with the friends and family that took the time to attend as well as everyone that continues to reach out and support us.  We were blessed to be able to do what we needed to bring us comfort and peace during this time and to know that we have so much love in our lives in the form of incredible and supportive friends and family.  They continue to remain by our sides as we travel through this difficult journey in our life together.

To lose a child is not only emotionally devastating, it can also create an overwhelming financial hardship. Sadly not everyone has the financial means or emotional support avaiilable to them.  TEARS is working to change that.

Shortly after I returned home from the hospital I received a phone call from Margaret, a peer leader in the Tears organization. She experienced the loss of her daughter Madelynn in May of 2009. We talked for a long time and immediately I felt a connection. She provided me with the details for the TEARS support group meeting and encouraged me to come. On July 7th, I attended my first TEARS meeting and met the most unbelievable group of people. They have helped me to understand my feelings, helped me through the bad days and smiled with me on the good days - and let me know that good days are ok. They have become an extension of my family and I am so blessed to have each and everyone of them in my life. 

Along with the emotional support the TEARS organization provides they also assist bereaved parents with the financial expenses involved in making final arrangements for their beautiful Angels.
