Our family is about to participate in the Annual Run/Walk for Someone Special for the 4th year in a row.  This is such a fun day for the kids and they take great pride in knowing they are raising money to help with a summer camp program that their own little twin brothers, Caleb and Isaac, go to at Camp Friendship.  

Tristin and Camille have both been able to become junior conselors at the summer camp programs.  They sure have learned alot from living with their twin brothers who both just happen to have PDD Autism and Down Syndrome.  The girls are wonderful with the campers they are assigned to and come home excited that campers have actually requested them by name.  

People at times say they feel sorry for us for all that we deal with.  My reply is honestly, there is nothing to be sorry about becuase this is "our version of normal".  Its wonderful at times and it is frustrating at times, alot like raising my typical healthy older three children!!

About Camp Friendship.. The Arc of Jefferson County has served the local special needs population for 45 years now.  At the beginning of 2012 they officially expanded to include Clearfield County as well.  This is a big step, but one that they felt needed taken.  I am Caleb and Isaac's proud mom.  Because of them, I have become the Executive Director of this wonderful organization.  And I can tell you that the fund raised here bring so much joy and so many smiles to the children during their weeklong camp experience.  Transportation is our biggest expense by far and if we are reaching out to further areas this will continue to be a concern.  Please help us continue to provide this camp for FREE... thats right, FREE!!!  The families raising children with disabilities often have more out of pocket expenses than most and they deserve to have something fun for their child to do at no cost to them.

We have been blessed over the years to have the community step up and fund this camp as well as maintance to the facility and our vans.  THANK YOU!!! for your past support and we ask for your continued support this year.  If you have never donated to us you can be assured that the money raised stays right here..in Jefferson and Clearfield Counties.  Your money helps children attending your local schools, churches, and events.  Please Help...
