Help raise money to support our troops who fight for our freedom. Swim 8 Miles, as an individual or relay, from Lake Geneva Beach to Fontana Beach (or just as far as you can) raising money along the way for each mile you complete. All proceeds will be donated to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to support America’s Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel and their families.

WHEN: Sunday August 5th, 2012. Sign in begins at 5am and ends at 5:30am. Swim begins at 6am.

WHERE: Sign in will be at Gordy's Boat House, 336 Lake Ave, Fontana, WI 53125. Participants will be shuttle by boat to Lake Geneva Beach where they will enter the water and swim back to Gordy's.

HOW TO ENTER: Please visit our website at www.swim4freedom.org to access our entry forms and for more details on the event. Please contact Steele Whowell at sgwhowell@mac.com if you have any questions.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

Created in 1980, Special Operations Warrior Foundation is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps during an operational or training mission under the U.S. Special Operations Command. This includes over 70,000 military special operations and support personnel assigned to units throughout the United States and around the world.

The Warrior Foundation is currently committed to providing scholarship grants to more than 900 children of the approximately 800 Special Operations personnel who have given their lives for their country since 1980, including those who died fighting our nation's war against terrorism as part of "Operation Enduring Freedom" in Afghanistan and the Philippines as well as "Operation Iraqi Freedom."

Currently, 190 children of fallen special operations warriors have graduated from college.

Since 2005, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has provided immediate $3,000 cash grants to personnel seriously wounded in the line of duty. Once notified of a special operations soldier, airman, sailor or Marine hospitalized with a severe injury, the SOWF immediately sends funds to the service member (or his/her designated recipient) so family members can immediately travel to be at their loved one's bedside. Since this program began in 2005, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation has provided over $1.2 million to wounded special operations personnel.
