Along with thousands of other participants, I have made a commitment to participate in Hoops of Hope, a free-throw shooting marathon on August 22nd at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. I'm doing this to help children who have been orphaned by HIV and AIDS.

Over the past five years, Hoops of Hope participants have raised over 1 million dollars. The money raised by participants has gone to sponsor over 100 orphans, to fund a water project in Kenya and to build a high school and two medical clinics in Zambia.

Across the world over 5,700 children every day are losing one or both parents to HIV and AIDS. If each of us helps a little, we can make a big difference!
