Stephanie Thompson's Fundraising Page
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Athens County! Big Brothers Big Sisters has been the nation's preeminent youth-service mentoring organization for over a century. BBBS of Athens County has been making a difference in the lives of area youth since 1986. In 2007, the agency served 350 children from Athens and Vinton Counties.
My good friend Kim has been serving as an Americorps volunteer working full time for BBBS of Athens County since August of 2008. She works as a program coordinator and also volunteers as a Big Sister to a 10-year-old girl at Trimble Elementary School. In her interactions with the community, it has become clear that Southeastern Ohio, Appalachia, is underrepresented and often forgotten about, and the lasting impression a mentor can have in a child's life is remarkable and touching. In the last six months, Kim has seen children change and become more confident due to the presence of an adult role model in their lives.
We need your help to ensure BBBS programming continues. Bowl for Kids' Sake is an annual campaign to benefit Athens and Vinton County children who need a special friend--a Big Brother or Big Sister--who can give them additional attention and guidance. As a non-profit organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters is dependent upon the generosity of the public in order to provide services for children. Bowl for Kids' Sake is our primary fundraiser and provides one fourth of our annual budget.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
