Thank you for partnering with me to raise money for Starlight Ministries. Starlight provides outreach, referrals to services, prayer and friendship to people who are homeless in Boston and Cambridge. They walk alongside these individuals so they can one day make the difficult transition off the streets and into healthy communities.

Many of the adults they build relationships with have been on the streets for years, some for decades, and need more than access to housing, jobs or job training, and health care.  They need individualized long-term care to help them set and achieve clear goals, and they feel comfortable with Starlight staff and volunteers because they are committed to engaging them where they are, not where we would like them to be. 

Starlight staff and volunteers also walk alongside youth and young adults ages 14-24 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.  These young people often are not served by school-based or youth development programs.  Often they are too old or unwilling to be taken in by child welfare, and too young for adult social services not tailored to their age group.  They help these youth dream big while gaining a deeper understanding of their full potential.

Basic Starlight stats:

·         Starlight has trained over a thousand individuals and helped launch numerous outreach ministries, including four nights of weekly homeless outreach by local churches

·         Each year Starlight provides 5,000 meals, 8,000 articles of clothing, and 2,000 blankets to more than 700 adults and youth who are homeless

·         Our volunteers donate over 10,000 hours of service each year

 How your donations can help Starlight:

·         $1400 = 3 months of training and coaching for one team to do their own weekly outreach to individuals on the streets

·         $600 = one week of Starlight daytime street outreach to individuals on the streets

·         $400 = one night of Starlight van outreach to individuals who are homeless (actual cost is $1300, but about $900 we get in kind).

·          $500 = one afternoon of services at the Starlight’s homeless drop-in center (includes snacks, clothes, haircuts, showers, voicemail and case management services for homeless individuals)

·         $300 = one night of Starlight’s Sanctuary Arts Community for homeless youth (includes family-style dinner, art workshops and much more)

·         $50 provides one month of case management for one individual.

·         $10 = a week of snacks for one individual
