Hello! I'm Steve. I'm currently volunteering as an English teacher in Hainan, China, which is very rastafaraway. I haven't cut my hair for 8 years, and I haven't brushed it for 6. My dreadlocks are now nearly 3 feet long, BUT I'm willing to cut them all off if YOU can help me raise money for orphanages across China. Can you help with this dreadful situation?
The Half the Sky Foundation improves the lives of children in welfare institutions across China. Many institutions can only provide the basic needs of the kids - food and shelter. Half the Sky organises programmes and provides nannies and teachers to interact with and educate the children, as well as giving them someone to play with! They also find foster homes for children whose special needs prevent them from being adopted.
If I can raise $1,000 by Thursday, 1st of May, I'll have a short back and sides by Thursday night. I'll post photos and a video of the de-dreadification afterwards!
UPDATE:
Wow! You guys are being more generous than I ever imagined! $1,000 dollars is looking too easy now. Let's try and make it to $2,000!
Please donate using the Give Now button above. If you are having trouble donating with your debit card, you can also donate via Paypal here, but only if you really have to as they take their own fee!Try your credit card here first! Thank you so much!
UPDATE Thursday 1st of May:
Hooray! I am now hairless (and beardless after a misunderstanding with the barber)! We managed to raise $1650 before the event, and another $100 was donated by other teaching volunteers for the right to cut off a dreadlock.
The photo is finally up! There's me there, looking all moody because I look a little silly with no beard.
You can still donate, and this site will continue to collect money until October, so please Give Now if you haven't already!
