Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page.
I am currently training for the Phoenix PF Chang's
Marathon in January 2008 as part of a group called "Miracles in Motion." This group is committed to raising funds for the Phoenix Children's Hospital and I am fortunate to be running for a very special honor patient, Tyler Danner.
Tyler is the beautiful young lady I am pictured with. She is 11 years old and currently being treated for a rare form of cancer at Phoenix Children's Hospital. She is a true inspiration and the motivation behind my daily running mileage. Her positive attitude and passion for life are truly contagious.
Below is
Tyler ’s story in her own words:
In early February my eye started to look very swollen. My mom immediately took action. I started by going to the ER for a C.T. scan. We ended up waiting for 17 hours there. I got the scan and all they could figure out was there was a mass there. They assumed it was a sinus infection that drained into my eye. The next morning they went into emergency surgery to drain anything there. I got many other scans but still left the doctors clueless. They decided to have me get a biopsy. My doctor was almost positive it was cancer free. But the next day my mom got a call my doctor called and he said he was wrong. I have Alveleolor Rhabdohmyosarcoma. (Al-veal-ee-ol-or Rhab-dough-my-oh-sarcoma.) Then a week later I started treatment. I need 43 weeks of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. I currently have about 13 weeks left. It was a long adventure, but I’ve learned a lot.
As you can see from this picture and her story,
Tyler ’s spirits are high and she and I are confident that she is going to beat this rare disease. With the help of the outstanding doctors and nurses at PCH and the love and prayer's of friends and family, this life experience will soon be a distant memory.
For those of you that can, I would appreciate you making a contribution to PCH on behalf of
Tyler . These donations will go to help PCH continue to provide outstanding children's hospital care
. Any contribution that you can make is greatly appreciated and you can rest assured that it is going to a great cause. Also be sure to check with your employer to see if they have a matching gift program!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thank you,
Steve
