First of all, thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
As you most likely know, I have been a triathlete for nearly ten years and have competed in hundreds events across the world and have made what was initially a hobby, a central activity in my life from a career and lifestyle perspective.
As you may NOT know, I had quite a scare with melanoma within the past year. I've had several surgeries, tissue and lymph node biopsies, lots of questions and sometimes less answers than we all would have liked. Long story short, all of the tests that I've had have come back negative (a good thing) and I'm constantly monitoring my skin for any new abnormalities and making frequent visits to my skin cancer specialist at the University of Colorado Hospital and my dermatologist in Boulder. If you don't know much about melanoma, it is a quite serious (read: deadly) form of skin cancer that is affecting more and more people each year.
The Melanoma Research Foundation has partnered with Ironman for a series of events to raise awareness about melanoma prevention and raise money for the next treatment breakthrough. The event in which I will be participating is the Boulder 70.3 (half Ironman) on August 5, 2012.
My fundraising goal is $5,000. If you'd like to make a donation, doing so through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and please feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might want to support my fundraising efforts for the Melanoma Research Foundation.
