Hi Family & Friends --
WOW - here I go again - running to help raise money for World Vision by taking on the challenge of the 2009 Chicago Marathon AND NOW ALSO the 2009 NYC Marathon this fall. Last year was amazing as I learned how to train, encourage my teammates, and run and finish the 2008 Chicago Marathon. It was really hard, and I think World Vision is so great an organization that I'm willing to do it all over again, and even more!
Who and what is World Vision? Check out their website at www.worldvision.org and learn how World Vision works to tackle the root causes of poverty by working with children, families, and their communities. They do amaing things like provide clean water, health care, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities to impoversished people in over 100 countries.
Here it is, after November 1, 2009 - I've done it - I ran both marathons in 3 weeks!! I ran the Chicago Marathon (on Oct. 11) in 4:01 and a few seconds. I ran the NYC Marathon on Nov. 1 (its 40th year) in 4:04. While I was hoping to come in just under 4 hrs, I found out that there are a lot more hills along the NY route than the one in Chicago. Maybe next year! In all of my training since March, I've run well over 600 miles!!
I know the economy is 'tough' but I ask you to support my efforts through Team World Vision by making a tax-deductible donation. Thank you for your prayers as I've journeyed through all of this training and of course, thank you for your support!!!
