BE A PART OF MY RUN, AT THE CLEVELAND RITE AID MARATHON, MAY 17TH, 2009
Adoption Network Cleveland (ANC) is an important part of my life, as a board member and as a mentor to a 15 year old girl in foster care.
There are hundreds of youth in the foster care system in the Cleveland area. Many are teenagers about to age out of the system, with no where to go and no one to turn to. These teens need adult guidance and support to help them transition into adulthood, so they don't have to do it alone. I am part of the ANC mentoring program, which provides such support.
I'm mentoring Deonca, an amazing 15 year old young lady. She's bright, wise, and caring, with a great sense of humor. She has enriched my life and I look forward to the time we spend together.
I'm raising money to support the Mentoring Program at ANC by running the Cleveland Marathon! That's 26.2 miles, about 5 hours of running on May 17th, 2009. I've been training since January, an 18 week commitment. This past weekend I finished a 20 miler through the metro parks, hot and long! Those miles seem longer and longer. Dave biked with me, so that helped a lot. Last long run before the marathon!
Come be a part of this journey with me, knowing every step I take and every mile I run helps support this mentoring program. It helps kids like Deonca have an adult in their life, one they can count on.
