Help me raise $1,000 by December 31st. Your gift will be matched 100%!
Working at The Lake Drive Programs for Children Who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the most rewarding job I could ever imagine. As the Director of Fund Development, I get to see first hand the miraculous changes in the children who begin as babies in The Lake Drive Sound Start Program and learn to hear, listen, and talk. At age three, they're ready for preschool and the bright future every child deserves.
Hearing loss in children is something most parents don't think about. I never worried when my son Andrew had chronic ear infections as a baby. I wish I knew then what I know now. It turned out those ear infections caused him to lose valuable time in auditory brain development, causing delays in speech and affecting auditory processing.
The infants and toddlers in The Sound Start Program at Lake Drive face far greater challenges. Yet, with early identification, amplification through hearing aids and cochlear implants, and the help of Sound Start specialists, their communication skills can match a typically hearing child's by kindergarten!
But state funding covers less than 1/3 of the cost of Sound Start services. The Lake Drive Foundation is committed to raising $300,000 each year to provide babies who are deaf and hard of hearing therapies that will dramatically change their lives. Find out more at www.lakedrivefoundation.org
My goal is to raise $1,000 by December 31st. A generous anonymous donor will match every gift 100%! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Thanks in advance for your tax deductible donation. Please, forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too! And if you have children in your life, pay attention to their precious ears during the precious years between birth and age three. If you have questions or concerns about a child, don't hesitate to contact me.
With great appreciation,
