Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am a volunteer with World Computer Exchange (WCE) to help get more schools in Tanzania connected to the Internet. We have been helping to plan a shipment of 200 donated used computers that will be going to connect 14 rural schools assisted by Peace Corps Volunteers. These schools have about 5,000 students. .
I write to explore if you are willing to join me in financially Sponsoring part of the last $7,100 needed to make this happen. We have secured $4,600 in Sponsors I hope you can help with part of the last $2,500 that we still need!
The local WCE Partner organizations in Tanzania will match your donation with funds raised from parents, schools, local government, Rotary Clubs, and interested local companies. Their match is a key ingredient in showing the priority they place on their children receiving these computers and ensuring a sense of local ownership in this donated equipment. Each dollar you donate pays to connect one youth in Tanzania.
WCE is a global education and environment non-profit that keeps donated working computers out of landfills to help connect youth in developing countries to the resources, opportunities and understanding of the Internet. WCE is North America's non-profit that provides the most used computers to connect youth in developing countries. Since our first shipment in April of 2001, WCE has gathered, tested and delivered 26,800 computers to connect and support 2,550 schools with one million students in 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
WCE's 700 volunteers provide our 465 Partner organizations in 65 developing countries with assistance in sustainable project planning, partnership development, fund raising, shipping logistics, technology support, digital libraries, and responsible e-waste disposal.
WCE is honored by the trust placed in us by USAID, the United Nations, the World Economic Forum, Rotary Clubs, and Peace Corps Volunteers in many countries. Our work helps to implement the UN’s Millennium Development Goals in Education.
