Developing countries face shortages of physicians and other healthcare professionals. Continuing medical education programs are also frequently unavailable. Consequently, medical education provided by Physicians for Peace volunteers enables these healthcare professionals with advanced training to treat patients as efficiently as possible.
Our sustainable, replicable medical education programs are initiated only at the invitation of the host country Ministry of Health or hospital.
Our volunteers come from many specialties, permitting Physicians for Peace to design training programs in a vast array of medical specialties like pediatric burn care, prosthetic rehabilitation, emergency care training, ophthalmology, neonatology, nursing, cardiology, maternal health, and reproductive health. The keys to our success have been the dedication and passion of our volunteers and our ability to accommodate the different requests of needy countries. Many volunteers were born in needy countries and are dedicated to giving back and improving the capacity of these countries to help themselves.
