Every purchase of a batch of 12 Wristbands go towards Epilepsy Foundation, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire & Maine's (EFMARINHME) mission of bringing epilepsy awareness, education, support and advocacy to the community.  To purchase, simply donate $12 and provide a mailing address to which the bracelets can be sent.  In the comment section please type in "Awareness Wristbands."

 

 

                                              What Is It?

Epilepsy is a disturbance in the electrical activity of the brain. It is a common neurological disorder that affects more than 136,000 persons in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine..  Occurrence: Epilepsy is most prevalent among the very young and the very old, although anyone can develop it at any age. Epilepsy affects more than 326,000 children under the age of fifteen and more than 90,000 of these children have severe seizures that cannot be adequately treated.  The number of cases in the elderly is beginning to soar as the baby boom generation approaches retirement age. Currently more than 570,000 adults age 65 and older have epilepsy.

 

The Epilepsy Foundation MA, RI, NH, & ME is a non-profit voluntary health agency recognized by the IRS as a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Funded primarily through individual contributions from the general public and from fundraising events, the Epilepsy Foundation  Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine is the local affiliate of Epilepsy Foundation America (EFA) and also receives support in the form of restricted projects grants. An annual report is available on request.

The Epilepsy Foundation Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire & Maine is governed by a board of directors comprised of dedicated men and women volunteers from throughout the community and is advised by an active Professional Advisory Board of medical and other professional specialists. We have four full-time and several part-time staff members in our headquarters office located in Boston, MA.
