In the center of this page is my beautiful Special Olympian, Caitlin McKenzie. Caitlin competed in her first Special Olympics at age eight. The moment she crossed the finish line with arms thrown open wide I experienced personally what it was to see a "champion". The pride and excitement that shown on her face was proof enough to convince me that Special Olympics was life altering, not only for the athlete but also for their families. It was something I wanted my daughter to be a part of forever!
On March 7, I will be joining our team as we jump into a freezing lake to raise money for and awareness of the Special Olympic athlete and all that these wonderful athletes are capable of because of the opportunities Special Olympics provides. At age 21 Caitlin continues to compete with more than 22,000 athletes throughout the state of Illinois in a variety of sports! Your donation will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in year-round sports training and competition. Because you show that you care we are able to give every athlete the opportunity to experience greatness, excel in sports and experience first hand what it feels like to be a "champion".
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. I hope you will join our team. If you can help with the gain, I can handle the pain of the icy water!
Caitlin and I would like to thank you for your support. Feel free to forward this to – anyone you think might want to donate and be a part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois. Love, Suzanne a proud parent and Special Olympian, Caitlin McKenzie
