SUPPORT BRAIN CANCER RESEARCH
A Reason to Ride is a bike-a-thon founded in 2008 by brain cancer survivor and grateful patient Tom DesFosses. Now in its fifth year, hundreds of riders and volunteers will rally together on Sunday, September 9th, 2012, to raise crucial funds needed for cancer care and research at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. I am fundraising on behalf of the Neuro-oncology division at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.
The funds and proceeds from this fundraiser will go into funding Dr. Eric Wong's Brain Tumor Research. One of the research currently being conducted in our laboratory is on a new cancer treatment devise called the novo-TTF 100a. It is a devise recently approved by the FDA for use in recurrent glioblastoma. Our team in collaboration with NOVOCURE Inc. have been working hard at uncovering the biological mechanism in which the devise effects dividing cancer cells. This devise provides a completely new modality of cancer therapy with minimal side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. I have included a short article on the devise (see below):

This is just a sampling of what our team at BIDMC is trying to do. Unfortunately, I am unable to ride as I do not have a bike. Nonetheless, I wanted to spread the good word! On behalf of the neuro-oncology team at BIDMC, I want to thank you for your support for cancer research!
Sincerely,
