Tafv's Tribe Fundraising Page
WELCOME!
October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month. Once again Tafv’s Tribe will be celebrating by raising funds and participating in the Down Syndrome Association of Tulsa Buddy Walk on Sunday, October 16, 2011 from 1:30 pm - 4:00 pm at Union Public School's Central Park in Tulsa.
Buddy Walk is a great way to support individuals with Down Syndrome. Last year Tafv's Tribe had over 27 buddies and even made the local news! Now it’s your chance to join the Tribe by signing up to walk, donate, or help by educating yourself and advocating for individuals with Down Syndrome. It’s time to get tribal!
Tafv’s Tribe walks in honor of Tafv Quiett. Tafv is the 17 year old daughter of Rusty Quiett and Cherrah Ridge. She was born with Down Syndrome and has spent her life overcoming challenges. At 8 months of age Tafv had open heart surgery, by age 2 she finally learned to walk independently, and by age 15 she had a thyroid ablation. Through all of this, Tafv has always managed to laugh and make others laugh too. Her life has been an inspiration.
Tafv (which means feather in the Muscogee Creek language) is in the 11th grade at Jenks High School. She is active in bowling and bocce competitions of the Special Olympics and she is a cheerleader with the Rising Stars of Green Country. This year Tulsa Indian Club honored Tafv with a dinner and named her as a Lifetime Member. Tafv is also an active member of the Tulsa Creek Indian Community, which is a yearly proud supporter of Tafv’s Tribe and the DSAT Buddy Walk.
Tafv’s Tribe is thankful for any support you could provide and invite all of Tafv’s buddies to join the team and walk with her on Oct. 16th! Any questions please contact Tafv's mom at (918) 520-9161 or cherrahridge@gmail.com
