Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
This last year I had the opportunity to get involved with the wonderful
organization SFWAR, a nonprofit that provides free services surrounding sexual violence to the community including a 24hour crisis line, medical advocacy, support groups, peer counseling and prevention education. Through this experience I have been exposed to an inspiring group of individuals whom also share my commitment and passion to raise awareness and help end violence in our communities.
The World Health Organization estimates that globally one in five women will be the subject of rape or attempted rape, and one in three will be the victim of violence. According to the U.S. Justice Department only 26 percent of rapes or attempted rapes will be reported. According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, more than 260,000 rapes or sexual assaults occurred in 2000; 246,180 of them occurred among females and 14,770, among males.
This April I will be joining my fellow advocates to Walk Against Rape and raise money for SFWAR! We are coming together to encourage and empower ourselves and our communities to help break the silence of sexual assault in San Francisco and our world.
Please help support this cause in whatever way you can...come walk
with us, donate, or just keep spreading positive awareness...
