As you give to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation today, know that you are giving to the many adults, children and families that are 'touched by angels' every day.
Your contribution will aid in our research to enhance the lives of these loving caring people. Research that includes diagnosis being made easier and more quickly, awareness efforts to help ensure that doctors, parents, families, and communities will know and understand who we are.
**ALL of the money raised during this walk goes to fulfill grants that are allocated by the Foundation in various areas of research and awareness campaigns.
Research that one day will provide successful treatments for Angelman Syndrome. Treatments that will control the very uncontrollable seizures many of our 'angels' suffer from, treatments that will find successful ways for our 'angels' to communicate or even talk, treatments that will provide the answers we need to get all our 'angels' up and walking.
Angelman Syndrome was once thought extremely rare, but due to research and awareness we are discovering there are 'angels' among us everywhere, children who are misdiagnosed with Autism and/or Cerebral Palsy when in fact it is Angelman Syndrome, or children who are not diagnosed at all and who's parents are told to just put them away somewhere because there is no hope.
But there is HOPE, and that hope lies with each of you. Supporting the Walk for Angels will ensure another child gets a proper diagnosis, it will ensure another family isn't sent home to grieve when they truly have much to celebrate.
...there are a few things you should know about the current research in the field of Angelman Syndrome.
Our research has led to interesting and amazing discoveries in other fields as well. Our researchers have discovered great things that may be very useful in the treatments of Cystic Fibrosis, Parkinson's, Autism, and even Cancer!! oh you read that right! Even Cancer research has benefited from our tedious search for answers.
This research has to continue and we can't do that without each and everyone of you.
