According to the National Register for Historic Places Nominations, the Guadalupe Centers, Inc (GCI) is the longest continuously operating agency serving the Hispanic community in the United States!

 

Established in 1919, today Guadalupe Centers, Inc. (GCI) operates as a community based 501(c) 3 corporation run by Latinos. We are a nonsectarian organization with two major affiliations: the Heart of America United Way and the National Council of La Raza.  While originally the center served Mexican immigrants, the center has changed with the times by extending its traditional service boundaries to include Metropolitan Kansas City--now home to over 175,000 Latinos.

 

Operating 15 programs in eight buildings, GCI offers a full continuum of services ranging from health and social services to education, youth development and adult training and education. GCI staff, in conjunction with over 200 of our dedicated volunteers, empowers approximately 20,000 individuals every year.
