 Short Story but Sweet: Four years ago Mallory was born. I knew right away by the look of her eyes that she had Down syndrome. Even though I knew, it was still heartwrenching to hear the confirmation from the pediatrican that ...the blood analysis came back positive. At that time all kinds of emotions had run through me: my dreams for my child = gone, what will the future hold. I was holding this brand new baby and was just overwelmed. Now, four years later. My dreams are not gone, just different. The future holds the same possibilities as any other child. Thanks to the support of our friends, family and community. She continues to surpass the "typical" stigmas associated with Down syndrome. Please continue the efforts of The Buddy Walk to inform and educate the community, families and the self advocates to make them aware that they are "just like you and me".
