Well, friends - it's that time again.  Funny to think that I've only been doing these races for about a  year - whatever did I do with all the free time I used to have?!  As you know, triathlons have given me so much already - not least the sheer joy and sense of accomplishment about doing something I never thought I'd do, ever!  (I know, I know, most of you never thought I'd ever do something like this either!!!)  It's with that spirit in mind, that of beating the odds, that I come to you to encourage your donation to the American Cancer Society.  

There are many ills in the world, literally and figuratively, and it seems impossible that any of us can make a dent in any of them.  But a journey of 1,000 miles begins with a single step.  In this heated political season, and with uncertainty seemingly all around, keep in mind that each of us can make a difference, and that there is no gesture too small.  Because every little bit helps, and you never know how your gesture will affect someone else for the good.

We have all been touched by cancer, one way or another.  For me, the impetus for putting this together was watching helpless as dear friends lost their 4 year old daughter after a brutal struggle.  But also, I have watched a young mother come through breast cancer with shining colors.  And have seen relatives struggle with scares and scary treatments.  And other friends have lost loved siblings in the prime of their lives.   No one goes untouched.  But everyone can help a little bit, and sooner or later, our collective efforts will pay off!
So I encourage you to give what you can to the American Cancer Society.  Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support the cause.
