Tara Gannon's Fundraising Page
Hello everyone,
I was thinking to re-write the message about my mom and the reason why I am doing this, but last year's message described it so well that I couldn't think of anything better to say, other than how much I miss & love her. May her legacy live on thru this most worthy of causes!
On March 31, 2009, I lost my mom, Mary Nuala (aka "Noodles") Gannon, to Ovarian Cancer. She was diagnosed in late 2007, and fought like a trooper. I remember that she never-ever-ever said "why me," but instead; "why not me?" Perplexed as anyone, I asked why, and her response was something like this - 'if my having cancer can prevent a child or anyone else from having cancer, then that is what I got to endure.' She was a beautiful individual with a spark of the divine, so interested in and genuinely caring toward others, spiritually grounded, intrigued and impacted by this beautiful world we all share. Personally, she was my moral compass, my advisor to all things personal and some things not so personal, she held me to the highest of standards, something I sometimes had a hard time with, but I know she meant well and always wanted the best for me and our family. She lived a great life and packed it with beautiful memories that live on in me and everyone that had the privilege of knowing her. She knew what mattered in life long before she ever was diagnosed, so this cancer didn't really change her, it changed us: her family, her community, and even the people she helped on the side of the road - she was famous for this! This illness is detected mostly too late, so please join me or donate for this cause, not only for medical research but to get the message out about detection and awareness. My heart goes out to all of those who have been touched by cancer, this a worthy cause, please consider making a donation to this, I thank you from the bottom of my heart! Let's Ovar'come this together.
With love & peace to you all!
Tara
