Coach Patterson has coached a game in his bare feet for the last 3 years. As a result, Taylor University Faculty and Students have been able to share God's love with hundreds of impoverished children in Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. It's an incredible experience to witness young people washing the feet of impoverished children sharing Christ's love with them. Coach Patterson's efforts has allowed our Taylor contingency to do that and it's been amazing to witness how something so simple...coaching in his bare feet has turned into something so powerful. Lives have been transformed.
Being a part of Samaritan's Feet gives all of us at Taylor the opportunity to give back in such a profound way. That's why Taylor decided 3 years ago to help Samaritan's Feet and their “Barefoot for Bare Feet” movement. Coach Patterson is joining thousands of other coaches, to use his platform by coaching our Silent Night Game in his bare feet on December 9th to provide a voice for the 300,000,000 million children who wake every day in their bare feet.
Samaritan's Feet models servant leadership by washing the feet and providing a new pair of socks and shoes to impoverished children worldwide.
From across the nation, college, high school, and community coaches are coaching games in their bare feet and influencing university and high school students and faculty to get involved to help make a difference. Governors from several states and business leaders have gone barefoot to work to help bring awareness to this cause. Since 2007, through this effort, Samaritan’s Feet has raised more than 2,000,000 pairs of new shoes and nearly $2 million dollars.
Our goal is to raise hundreds of shoes to take with us again overseas to distrubute to impoverished children through an act of servant leadership. Samaritan’s Feet was started in 2003 to put 10 million pairs of shoes on children’s feet in 10 years around the world and serves the impoverished in over 62 countries around the world. To date, they have placed new shoes and new socks on the feet of more than 3.5 million children.
Become a part of the barefoot movement. As more of us stand ‘barefoot’ together, the impact will continue to grow and more children will be given hope.
Will you provide a voice for the 300 million barefoot children around the world?
