Marine Corps Marathon - Combat Talon II Team

This fall we remember the 10 year anniversary of the loss of our fellow special operators from MC-130H accidents in 2002. Several of us that served alongside these brave individuals will participate in the Marine Corps Marathon to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to remember them and others we've lost from the community. We take this opportunity to honor and remember the following brave servicemen and women:

CHARIOT 55 – June 2, 2002
TSgt Sean M. Corlew, Loadmaster
SSgt Anissa A. Shero, Loadmaster
SFC Peter Tycz, US Army

TALON 13 – August 7, 2002
Maj Gregory W. Fritz, Navigator
Maj Michael J. Akos, Pilot
Capt Christel A. Chavez, Copilot
Capt Panuk Soom-Sa-Was-Di, Special Tactics
1Lt Nathaniel D. Buckley, Electronic Warfare Officer
TSgt Robert S. Johnson, Flight Engineer
TSgt Martin A. Tracy, Special Tactics
TSgt Christopher Matero, Special Tactics
SSgt Robert J. McGuire Jr, Loadmaster
SSgt Shane H. Kimmett, Direct Support Operator

Created in 1980, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps during an operational or training mission under the U.S. Special Operations Command. This includes over 70,000 military special operations and support personnel assigned to units throughout the United States and around the world.

The Warrior Foundation is currently committed to providing scholarship grants to more than 900 children of the approximately 800 Special Operations personnel who have given their lives for their country since 1980, including those who died fighting our nation's war against terrorism as part of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.

Currently, 190 children of fallen special operations warriors have graduated from college.

Please help us honor the brave men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice and support a very worthy cause in helping children of fallen special operators receive a college education.

Thank you,

The Combat Talon II Team
