Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for Special Olympics 2012 Polar Plunge Winter Festival. Team Johnson has completed our first year of Special Olympics and I have to tell you it was a blast. Samuel competed in Basketball, Track & Field and Soccer and won four medals and eight ribbons to show for his hard work as an individual and as a team. I was lucky to be the coach of Samuel and his teammates in all three sports and look forward to coaching these athletes in 2012.
Now it’s time again to take the plunge! Last year I didn’t know what to expect so I set my goal pretty low ($1500). As the month went on I raised my goal to $3500 and exceeded all expectations by raising over $4300. This year my goal is $5000 and I now with your help I can reach this goal. As a team, Area 11 has set a goal of $50,000. The great thing about the money we raise is that it stays local and supports our Area 11 athletes.
Special Olympics changes lives by benefiting more than 9,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities across our Commonwealth and impacts communities in many powerful ways. Your donation to Special Olympics Virginia through this event is vital in making transformation possible and changing views about people with intellectual disabilities. Special Olympics Virginia uses sports as a catalyst to change society’s perceptions and treatment of people with intellectual disabilities. This is an incredible cause, and if able I hope that you will come down and watch me take part in this great event. If not able to attend your financial contribution will be much appreciated.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate, too.
