Dear Friends and Family-
I am excited to announce the first ever Las Vegas, Nevada 2012 Strollathon to raise money and awareness for Rett syndrome! All money earned goes directly to IRSF (International Rett Syndrome Foundation). This wonderful foundation has helped our family tremendously!
All funds earned are distributed by the foundation to support research and clinical trials and help give information and suppport to families affected by Rett syndrome. I am so excited that there are CURRENTLY several clinical trials involving girls affected by Rett syndrome with very promising results!
In 2007, the symptoms of Rett syndrome were completely REVERSED in Rett mice. Researches say that within 5 years there will be affective treatments available to our girls and within 10-15 years there will be a CURE! This all takes awareness and funds to make this happen. This gives me such great hope for our Camilla.
Camilla is now 5 years old. She is our angel and we thank God every day for her. As long as Camilla has Rett syndrome, she will never be able to talk, use her hands properly, or take care of herself. She is a very bright, happy, and alert girl who loves life. On her iPad she tells us jokes, tells us how she is feeling, and what she needs and wants. She is quite intelligent, but is trapped in a body that doesn't work properly.
Please join our family and "Team Camilla" on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Town Square Las Vegas for a morning of family fun and celebration all in the name of a worthy cause! Thank you so much for your friendship and support.
Your help is our hope!
Lori and Dirk Johnson
