Hi all...  Thanks for visiting our fundraising page for the Big Sur Half Marathon.  Once again the cause is Ronald McDonald House at Stanford, a wonderful organization that has been near and dear to our hearts for more than 15 years.

Our 47-room house in Palo Alto provides a home-away-from home and much needed support to critically ill kids and their families. With the rapid advances in medical technology, illnesses that were once fatal are now being treated successfully. This has resulted in longer stays at the House. In fact, since 2002, the average stay at RMH has increased from six to 21 days, with many families spending months at a time at the House while their child receives specialized treatments from nearby Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital.

Also, it’s worth noting that no family is ever turned away due to inability to pay the modest $10 a night the House has been charging since 1979 to those who can afford it. This small influx of earned revenue means that the House needs to fundraise about 90% of its $3+ million budget annually which, as you may imagine, has become increasingly more difficult in today’s tough economic climate.
