Dear Family & Friends:
We are ever thankful to your for prayers generous support for Jason all these years. Here's a quick update on Jason...
He is still living in his home run by HMEA on Maynard Street in Northboro with his housemates, Billy, Peter and Matt. Jason also still attends the HMEA day program in Sutton. Both of these programs continue to provide Jason with supervised work opportunities, speech therapy, recreation, social interaction and community living. The staff continues to try reaching Jason through various communication modalities, which includes speech, sign and picture languages. We have noticed his understanding of verbal promptings has increased, as well as his vocalizations. He does come home on weekends, where he loves all the attention he gets from his mother and me, and his sibilings, along with listening to his music.
Sunday, May 17th, 2009 all of us, including Jason, will once again be participating in HMEA's 8th Annual Independence 5K Walk/Run in the Park, HMEA's premier fundraising event. Jason's residence is forming a team again this year in an effort raise funds for the programs of HMEA, and we need your support. We assure you all net proceeds go directly back to the programs. The event is held in the Franklin Industrial Park at the EMC2 Corporation's soccer field at 50 Constitutional Boulevard. This is a real fun-filled family day, featuring a lot of fun activities for young and old alike, if you can why not join us -- you will be supporting a worthy cause while having fun! Take a look at the video below, you can just feel the excitement!
HMEA is a non-profit Human Services agency providing specialized supports and education to 2,400 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Their competent staff are committed to providing the highest level of care for the individuals in their programs, and they help people achieve a level of independence where they are most comfortable. HMEA's staff truly do believe "...in the power of dreams, NOT the limitations of disabilities."
