Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I wanted to take this time to tell you what this foundation means to me.  It gives me a chance to give back to a city tha has brought me so much joy over the years.  The first time I was in New Orleans was to see Brian while he had a co-op there.  I had already been in love with him for almost 2 years at this point.  It gave us a romantic place to be together while I continued to fall more in love with him and more in love with that city!  It has great food, music, culture,  traditions, historic buildings and a deep history.  I love meeting people in New Orleans.  They always have a story to tell and have always treated me and my loved ones like we were home. When Katrina destroyed the city I was devastated. On a previous trip there in May of that year, I had told my friends what could happen to the city if a hurricane was strong enough to break the levees. Those friends said they thought of me when Katirna hit!  I wanted to reurn to the city so badly.  My now husband took me as a surprise for my 30th birthday. They city wasn't really the same and I was sad by the things I saw. I never made it to the Lower 9th ward which was hardest hit by the flood. But what I saw still made me sad.  I decided that raising money to help rebuild homes in a city I love would be a great way to give back to a city that has given me so much happiness and great memories!   The foundation is trying to raise money to build 150 houses in the lower 9th ward.  Each house cost around $150,000.  To keep track of my progress, check out this page or my blog  buffie26.blogspot.com
