Great American Bike Race 2011 - Michael's 'FIT' Maniacs

We just keep going and going!...2011 Great American Bike Race is ..... HERE!

This is NEWS!! Its been said that if our team is not in the Top Half for fundraising $$ teams this year, this will be our final race! We need your support to keep this team going. Due to the overwhelming number of willing riders/participants and the limited space/number of bikes available.

GABR.  What is it?

Founded by-Medcenter One and the pediatric rehabilitation team,  to provide services that enable persons with cerebral palsy and other disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their community.

CP is a physical disability caused by damage to the brain usually occurring before, during or shortly after birth and is characterized by a lack of muscle control. GABR-generated dollars are dedicated to purchasing equipment such as wheelchairs, communication devices and adaptive tricycles for CP patients.

We are at it again! This year we decided to try and take things up a notch!  Michael's fans and teammates have decided to run with the big dogs and see how well we can do competitively against some of the other pros!  Michael dubbed this team as "Michael's FIT Maniacs."   We are excited and very curious to see how fast and how far we can go.

This year's team will be comprised of some new and some familiar faces.  The biggest interest for us, is our extended family being involved.  Myself, my two sisters, one brother in-law, nephews, some additional friends ...all combined to race to the finish!  This year's race is going to be 12 race legs per team.  Each ride will be 20 leg crunching, calorie burning, crank it into hyper-over drive minutes long!  Phew!  My adrenaline is pumping just thinking about it!!

As a reminder, we are not crazy.  We are simply riding for a cause.  My legs will probably be J-E-L-L-O after this event, but it is nothing compared to what many others feel daily.

We are Michael's team because, being the awesome 16 years old that he is; Michael Kaip is very active, outgoing, caring, and we love him!  His most recent interest is Sled (or sledge) Hockey.. this newfound passion is probably supported by his love of supporting his fellow Mandan Braves Hockey team as their 'team student manager.'

Michael has always been an active supporter for others in and around our communities.  We love for Michael to find things that he can do for himself.  To encourage himself to be motivated and give it his all is something we cherish and want to continue to support his efforts.

Please check out the link below to review a brief story featuring Michael and Sled Hockey.

For that added encouragement, we are asking you to help us support Michael in this great event that helps so many.

Feel free to stop by the GABR on race-day and support your favorites!  Fans and 'fanners' are always appreciated!

                             Thanks for your time,

                                                         Your 'FIT Maniac'            Terri
