As some may know, I have been actively involved with the Law Enforcement Torch Run for over a decade. This year, on June 6, 2012, I will be proudly participating in Torch Run for the athletes of Special Olympics Virginia, doing something I've never done before, running the entire leg of the Eastern Shore portion of the Run. The Torch Run is a year round global movement to raise awareness and funds for the athletes of Special Olympics, and The Run is the premiere event of the entire Torch Run year, an event for which I've been training the last four months! Starting on June 2, law enforcement agencies from around Virginia will begin running with torches across the commonwealth. Over the next week, the torches will cover nearly 2,000 miles. Then, on June 8th, I will again join over a hundred other law enforcement officers in Richmond as we run the Final Leg of the Torch Run, escorting the Flame of Hope all the way to the Robins Center at the University of Richmond, where we will light the Special Olympics cauldron to mark the official opening of the 2012 Summer Games.
I am honored to be taking part in this year's run and I hope that you will consider making a donation on behalf of the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Virginia. With your help, I will reach my fundraising goal and make the athletes proud.
