Due to the fact that people are awesome I reached my initial goal of $1000 in less than 3 days. Since so many I know haven't chipped in yet, I'm upping the goal. The Hersh will not be stopped.
I've been coaching/officiating for 11 years now and over the last couple of years my wrestling team raised money for Susan G Komen (prior to the controversy) as one of our wrestling mom's battled breast cancer as well as for a student of ours Sybrina Hayes who has been battling stage 3 Hodgekin's Lymphoma. This last season we didn't raise any money which is totally my fault so I feel compelled to make up for my "slackerness." As a coach, there is nothing better than seeing my athletes excel. This makes raising money for the Special Olympics a natural fit.
My goal is to get as many $10-$20 dollar contributions as possible. If I'm able to raise $2000 or more, I will place everyone's name in a hat who contributed money and have a drawing for a second person to rappel down the 32-stories with me. I am open to any suggestions (besides the asking/pleading/cajoling/harassing which I will be doing anyways and short of shaving my head) as ways to raise money.
FYI: Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
