Poor Sonya has had a hard life, but NO LONGER!

On Dec 31st, Sonya arrived at our shelter and immediately delivered a puppy .. but the one puppy she had, did not live. The look of sadness in her eyes was almost unbearable.  

She seemed SO amazed that anyone cared enough to give her a warm bed, food and some love.  Her eyes are so expressive and we were determined that she WOULD find a home to love and care for her.  The scars on her body tell the story of a hard life, but her warm heart has sustained her. When you talk to Sonya, she looks at you with so much love and amazement that someone actually cares.

The fact that she is an older lady makes you ache for her even more.

Thankfully a special person stepped up and offered to give her a foster home, but Sonya has some medical needs which includes heartworm treatment.  We'd like to raise some funds to help give Sonya the best of care (we know they will, but we also know how expensive it is to care for an older dog, so we thought we would try to raise some funds for Sonya.

Feb 2,2007- Thank you everyone for your donations!  We met goal,  but any additional donations will be put into our emergency Medical fund (Millie's Medical Fund) for future "Sonya's" as we know there will be more wonderful dogs and cats that will need a little extra help.  You are ALL THE BEST!  I know that Sonya thanks you from the bottom of her heart (which will soon be Heartworm Free!)  Thank you so much!
