/All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible./
Dear family and friends:
It's my privilege to invite you to join me, not only to be a 2012 bad-ass-day-dreamer, but make the dreams possible for others.
Sunday, March 4th @ North Ave Beach, 10 AM. It's a 6th year I am jumping into Lake Michigan for Special Olympics and 6th opportunity to make a difference.
For five years in a row I've been the event fundraiser and given the economy and times like these, that amount of money is not to be taken lightly. It just continues to solidify how much we all recognize how important it is to take care of one another. You've so generously answered my donation requests, some of you every single year. You continue to honor me, yourselves and humanity by donating so graciously.
People ask how I came to choose Special Olympics as MY charity. It isn't just a sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities, but really a catalyst for social change. Special Olympics helps those who participate to grow mentally, socially and spiritually, all the while discovering courage, enthusiasm and new found talents. What is there for me?
It has taught me the power of profound acceptance and reminded not to take things for granted in life.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart-
