Dear UMass Amherst students, family, friends, faculty and members of the community thank you for visiting our fundraising page. Our mission is to fund as much as possible our campaign to hold the world's record bone marrow drive, which will ultamately save the lives of many people seeking a life saving bone marrow transplant.
Every year almost 140,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with some form of blood cancer. Seventy percent of the people who need stem cell or bone marrow transplants do not have a compatible donor in their family and must look in bone marrow registries for an unrelated donor. As more people are registered and the database grows, the chance that someone will find a match increases significantly. DKMS has helped match donors for over 19,500 bone marrow transplants by adding more people to the national database.
People around the country battling lymphoma and other blood cancers need your help! Our goal is to raise $100,000, in our effort to to save lives. No amount is too small, and 100% of the donations will go directly to registering bone marrow donors.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support Think 10,000: It could save your life. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
