AIDS WALK Kansas City 2009 Kansas City,  Missouri

In Memory of Thomas Dwayne Clark

***IN MEMORIAM***
THOMAS DWAYNE CLARK
PASSED AWAY UNEXPECTEDLY ON April 12, 2009

YOU CAN HONOR THOMAS BY DONATING TO AIDS WALK KANSAS CITY IN HIS MEMORY ON THIS PAGE.  BELOW ARE SOME REFLECTIONS ON THOMAS CLARK AND WHY HE WILL BE SO MISSED BY TEAM METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

This past weekend we were informed of the death of Thomas Clark.  His passing has been very difficult for the students, faculty and staff of Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley because of his level of involvement in campus organizations and our community and the way he touched the lives of so many of us at Penn Valley.

"Thomas Clark was a humanitarian.  His passions seemed to revolve around helping others.  He was president of Phi Theta Kappa, in which he organized and participated in several community service projects.  He was also active in Student Ambassadors and the Gay-Straight Alliance.  He loved his dogs and tried to help needy animals find adoptive families.  He was planning to participate in the Kansas City AIDS Walk."  (Anonymous)

"Thomas Clark, (affectionately referred to by some members of the PV Student Ambassadors as TC) was a comedian.  He left you in stitches with his quirky sayings and his ability to put a humorous spin on any number of situations or circumstances.  Humanitarian, yes, I would agree.  He had a knack for bringing people together, helping those with conflicting perspectives come to agreement.  He was warm and winsome, genial and gregarious.  He was an effective organizer, had wonderful administrative skill, and while he could do a job from beginning to end himself, he was good at helping others among the Ambassadors realize their potential and encouraged them to try, always making himself available to assist if he was needed.  He had a eye for decorative detail that I often relied upon for various activities and events involving the Ambassadors.  He assisted Mary Davis and me for the last four months with the Saturday, Pre-Collegiate workshops. You no doubt can determine from these few words that he was awfully special to me." (Gwen Pate, Academic Advisor and Student Ambassador sponsor)

In the spirit of honoring a very special student, let's all support each other through this difficult loss and keep moving forward with Thomas Clark's selfless dedication to serving others.
