Thomas Lashbrook's Fundraising Page
Now that I’ve retired from Napa PD I really have to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. But before that, I’ve decided to take some time off without a job or school obligations. To fill that time I have given myself two goals for 2009:
First, I’ve made it a personal goal to complete the Iron Butt Association’s National Parks Tour, gold level. The basic goal is to ride to at least 50 national parks, monuments, or historic sites, in at least 25 states or Canadian provinces — all within 12 months. The gold level requires the states to include Alaska, California, Florida, and Maine, or a northeastern Canadian province such as New Brunswick, or Nova Scotia.
I have also promised my friend, and fellow Blue Knight, John Fredriksson, that I would participate in the Northern California Ride 4 Kids in October. This is a charity ride that benefits the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. As John’s family has been affected by a brain tumor; he and his wife Louise are deeply committed to battling this disease.
But is there a way to combine these two events? Yes. That’s where you all come in. I’m asking that you motivate me on my National Parks Tour by pledging a donation to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation through this site — any amount is appreciated. But would you also consider backing up your initial contribution with a pledge per park follow-up donation? I plan on no less than 50 parks, and maybe a few more. Even a pledge of a few cents per park would be great. I'll probably start the tour in March, and I’ll post periodic updates on my progress. I’ll get a final park count out (for donation purposes) by September 15th. That should be enough time to get the pledges sent in before the Nor-Cal Ride 4 Kids on October 4th.
Thank you in advance. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising effort. Many thanks again; and feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate as well.
