Malaria kills 1 million people each year, and sickens hundreds of millions more. Sick students can't go to school and sick parents can't work to feed their children. 

Pregnant women and children under 5 years of age are disproportionately affected by malaria, and constitute a majority of deaths.

Interventions are simple. Insecticide-treated bed nets protect the vulnerable from the mosquitoes that carry the disease.
