For those of you who don't know me, I served as a recon marine with 2D Reconnassance Battalion and deployed twice to Iraq.  What will stay with me forever is the remarkable men I had the honor to serve with. 

Unfortunately we lost truly one of the best on July 8th of this year-MSgt John Hayes.  This man was a warrior that served as the example to all marines around him.  He was also a dedicated family man.  He leaves behind a wife and three young children.

On October 25th, I am going to Washington, DC to run the Marine Corps Marathon in honor of my friend and mentor, John Hayes.  As I said before, John leaves behind three young children.  The Force Recon Association has set up a scholarship program for his children.  I'm asking anyone who can to sponsor my run and donate to this worthy cause.  I also encourage you to visit Force Recon Association's webpage at forcerecon.com and read more about John and other great recon marines who have made the ultimate sacrifice under the 'honor' link.
