Let me start at the beginning. About 2 1/2 years ago, I met Erica. She was a mom on babycenter.com with a daughter  born in July '06 and son born in October '08. We already had alot in common since my son was born in July '06 and my daughter in Oct. '08.  We started talking because our oldest children had speech delay. We soon became Facebook friends and I began following Erica's blog. As Bo's speech began to develop, Avery's did not. It seemed as though Bo was starting to progress - saying words, than phrases, now sentences. Bo also became potty trained at 3 yrs. 3 mo., while Avery was still having many delays. Then in the fall of 2009, Avery was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome Now I only know Erica and her family through cyberspace, but their lives have had a great impact on me. I think, that could've been me, my family. I have since felt a great need to do what I can, no matter how small, to help this family and others like them. The reversal of Rett Syndrome seems so close. Researchers have already reversed Rett in mice!!! Erica is heading the Second Annual North Cal Strollathon to raise money for Rett Syndrome research. I am part of Erica's team, though I can't be there in person. I hope to raise as much $$ as possible. How awesome would that be if little Avery had the chance to be a "normal" little girl and YOU had a hand in that because you donated even just $5 to this wonderful cause?!?
