Thank you for visiting my page for the 2012 Flame of Hope Ride! I first participed in this event three years ago when it was started and I look forward to it every year.
The Flame of Hope ride is a fun way to get out on a motorcyle with a group of people working for a common cause. I see people from all walks of life, and regardless of our differences, we are all there for the same purpose - to help the kids and adults who participate in Special Olympics. I plan on riding in the event for as long as it lasts and I can safely ride a motorcycle.
This year's ride starts from seven different cities in Kansas: El Dorado, Emporia, Junction City, Olathe, Topeka, Wichita, and Yates Center. All riders will converge at Council Grove and have the opportunity to participate in Washunga Days 2012. Washunga Days is a celebration of Council Grove's history and its relationship with the Kaw Indians. Events include a Pow Wow, parade, car show, carnival and much more.
The Flame of Hope Ride provides funds for Special Olympics Kansas to carry out its many programs for adults and children with intellectual disabilities. For more information, please click on the words "Nonprofit" and "Event " near the top of this page, or visit www.ksso.org. There is also a short video on the right side of this page.
I hope you will join me this year in contributing to this worthwhile cause!
