Someone turn up the HEAT!!!!

Thank you for visiting my "Plunge" fundraising page.

If you have never done a "plunge" before then we have something in common. For years, many friends have tried to talk me into taking the "plunge" for what I consider to be a great cause..... the athletes of Special Olympics in Illinois. Every year someone asked and I jokingly said, "maybe" and then never thought about it hoping they would forget about it. So this year, I get asked to do the "Super Plunge". I have no idea what it is about the "Super Plunge" but it grabbed my attention. Then when my friend Bill said he wanted to do it together, that's all it took. Of course, neither one of us has ever "plunged" before so what do we do........ we decide to do the granddaddy of them all. Not only do we get to "plunge once, we get to do it 24 times.

The "Super Plunge" consists of repeatedly entering Lake Michigan once an hour, every hour for 24 hours. Yes, we are "plunging" 24 times in 24 hours. The fun begins at 2pm on Feb. 17th.
Sound Crazy? I think so. But I keep thinking about every athlete who gets an opportunity to participate in Special Olympics. All it takes is to see one sporting event and you will understand the joy it brings to an athlete with special needs to be able to participate. These athletes inspire me to do crazy things like this. All because I can! I'm collecting pledges from family, friends, co-workers and anyone else who wants to support Special Olympics Illinois athletes. For any business that donates $100 or more, I will take the plunge wearing an article of clothing wearing your company name or logo. Your donations will help provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in sports training and competition. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois If you would prefer to write a check for your donation, please send your check (payable to: Special Olympics Illinois) to me at: Todd Keil Bloomington Police Department 305 S. East Street Bloomington, Illinois 61701 Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
