Tom Jessup's Fundraising Page
The other day, my son Wyatt climbed up the shelves in the food closet and was hanging there, by one hand. He wasn't screaming for me to help him down, he just wanted the goldfish crackers; he would surely figure his own way down. I stood there laughing as he was suspended about 5 feet above the ground. He had only one thing in mind, getting those crackers.
I have healthy children who are able to play baseball, go to school, sleep in their own beds at night, and "hang from a shelf" knowing I would be there to catch them if they lost their grip. My children are able to run, jump and climb without a care in the world.
Those children with Cancer who are being treated at Children's National Medical Center might not have that option. They are bound to a hospital bed, being fed medication that, while trying to make them better, also makes them sick. Their diet consists of cocktails that certainly don't taste like goldfish crackers. They are, at times, too sick to get out of bed, let alone play outdoors.
They lead completely different lives then most children and yet, they have the most incredible outlook. Their hearts are filled with so much love and light. They are the true heroes; the true believers. HELP US, HELP THEM.
I will be shaving my head to represent these little heroes. Please donate to this wonderful cause and give these children the chance to run, jump and play; something most of us take for granted.
