Dear Friend
I am the proud father of a Special Olympics athlete - my daughter Torie.
A member of the Newark Lightning since the age of 8, we have realized, with our soon to be 20 year old, that Special Olympics Delaware and her team are not just about sports but about having and enjoying a full life and being part of a community.
So while we are very grateful, we are more importantly, fans. Special Olympics is about Courage, Dignity, Pride, Teamwork, and Acceptance. Qualities that we all aspire to have and that are encouraged, developed and demonstrated everyday by our athletes and those who's hearts they touch.
A donation helps equip an athlete for a season of sport but more importantly it provides a lifetime of pride, accomplishment and being brave in the attempt - a part of our athlete's oath before every competition.
I'm going to take the Plunge for Special Olympics - a dive into the Atlantic Ocean on February 5 2012 and I'd like your support for this great program.
Thank you for your generosity and for also being a fan!
